The best wax for upper lip hair removal

2 Min Read Monday 23rd September 2019

Removing hairs from small treatment areas, such as the upper lip, chin, face and underarms, is best done with a hot wax because it’s formulated for precision hair removal.

Hot waxing the upper lip eliminates the need for wax removal strips, so it’s quicker, neater and cost-effective too. This variety of wax is brilliant for removing coarse hairs, making it especially useful for clients who have thicker, stubborn growth along their upper lip. Some clients also find that their hair becomes coarser following hormone changes experienced during pregnancy and the menopause, which means warm wax isn’t always as effective.

Warm wax, which is removed with a strip and is usually applied to larger treatment areas such as the legs and arms, is still a useful and very common alternative to hot wax, particularly if your client has finer upper lip hair. The choice is ultimately up to you and your client’s unique needs.

To use a hot wax, warm it to the correct temperature and apply it from the centre of the upper lip to the outer edge, following the direction of hair growth. Wait a moment for the wax to set (it will still remain pliable and won’t become brittle) and then use your spatula to remove the strip in one swift motion. Repeat this process on the other side.

Gold film hot wax is a brilliant product to use for facial hair removal because it can be used on small areas, helping you to retain full control over coarse hairs, and it doubles up as a body wax that can be sheered across larger areas too.
