How to wax over-plucked eyebrows

2 Min Read Wednesday 28th November 2018

Thicker eyebrows are definitely in vogue these days as models like Cara Delevigne and Natalia Castellar renounce tweezers and rock a fuller arch. The problem is that lots of us have lived through the years when super-thin eyebrows were in fashion and have been left with brows that look like bent toothpicks. Others of us have found that our eyebrows have become sparse with age and might never come back no matter how long we leave them to grow.

So what do you do when a client with over-plucked or sparse eyebrows pops in for an eyebrow tidy but wants to retain as much hair as possible?

Firstly, it’s important to have a conversation with your client about which hairs they want to retain in order to encourage a thicker shape. Growing eyebrows out is a marathon rather than a sprint so you don’t want to accidentally remove hairs that your client has been growing for months in order to achieve a sleeker arch. It’s better to leave those new hairs to grow and use them as markers for the new, heavier shape. Any gaps can simply be filled in with an eyebrow pencil until more hairs reappear on their own with time.

And believe it or not but you can still reshape a scant brow — there are bound to be hairs that are growing far outside the natural shape of your client’s brow from both above and below their eyebrows that need to be removed. You’ll also want to wax away the hairs growing in the middle to open up the face and accentuate the eyes.

To make things easier we’ve launched a Sculpting Brow Pencil that’s designed to imitate the appearance of fine eyebrow hairs with virtually zero effort. Available in three shades, each pencil has a triangular shaped tip that allows you to create and adjust definition, add structure and bring depth to a lacklustre brow. Begin by lightly mapping out a shape underneath the brow. Then, using the finer end of the triangular pencil, apply small strokes to create a hair like finish (for a shaded finish lightly press the triangle flat across the brow). Follow up with a touch of Brow Fixing Serum to brush and set the hairs into shape.
