How to make a Christmas tan last into the New Year

2 Min Read Thursday 22nd December 2016

Booked in for a pre-Christmas spray tan but don’t have the time for a salon¬†top-up before the New Year? Here are five ways to boost the life of your tan and retain that gorgeous glow for a bit longer:

  1. Exfoliating your skin a day before your treatment to remove dead skin cells will maximise the life of your tan. Tanner applied to smooth, exfoliated skin will also glide on better, resulting in an even finish.
  2. Remove unwanted hair 24 hours in advance and opt for waxing, where results can last for up to a month, over daily shaving. Shaving blades are harsher on the skin and will remove your tanner with every use.
  3. Fake tan works by gently colouring the skin cells on the top surface of the skin — when these cells become dry they start to flake off and take your golden glow along with them. If you use a rich moisturiser, like Radiance Body Balm, to keep your skin hydrated you’ll be able to stave off this regeneration process and retain your tan for a few more days.
  4. Still keeping up with your gym routine to counteract the mince pies and glasses of bubbly you’ll be indulging in over¬†the festive season? Take¬†short showers and avoid going to the steam room or swimming pool after your treatment. The heat of a sauna causes the pores to open up and can dilute your tan. The chlorine in a pool will strip your sun-kissed hue of its intensity.
  5. You don’t have to go back to the salon for a colour top-up! Use High Intensity Express Tan in the comfort of your own home to achieve a beautifully bronzed glow in just one hour! Rated the¬†#1 body product of 2016 by Look magazine readers, this clever-clogs tanner is infused with tan accelerators to¬†give you a super-fast tan that develops at speed.
