How to maintain a spray tan

Make the most of your burnished hue.

Boost the life of your tan and prolong your golden glow.

Lock in your gorgeous sun-kissed glow by following our top tips on the best way to make a fake tan last longer. A spray tan can easily last well beyond a week if you keep these points in mind and use handy Sienna X products to top-up your colour regularly.

Let’s get started!

1. Moisturise. This is at the top of the list because it’s the most important point to remember. A good quality, rich moisturiser will hydrate the skin and prevent the skin cells sitting on the very top of the epidermis from flaking away. The more moisture your skin receives, the greater the chance that it will remain golden for longer.  Luxurious butter cream, Radiance Body Balm, is the ideal non-greasy product to use because it’s packed full of nourishing ingredients like coconut oil and shea butter. Subtle gold flecks have been suspended within the formula, which reflect the light and help the skin to look radiant and healthy.

2. Avoid exfoliators. Sunless tan works by colouring the cells on the uppermost level of the skin. Use a harsh exfoliator after your spray tan treatment and you’l essentially scrub away your fake tan. Try not to use exfoliators if possible to extend the life of your tan. However, feel free to use them before your self tan because they will remove dead skin cells and create a smooth base for fake tan to adhere to successfully. Exfoliated skin will also produce an even colour finish.

3. Use top-up products. If your tan starts to fade away you can make it last slightly longer by using products like Express Tanning Mist and Instant Bronzing Gel. Simply apply to areas that have started to fade faster, like the hands, feet and elbows, to balance out your colour.
