The experts at Sienna X are here to answer our most frequently asked question: how long does a professional spray tan last?
After your spray tanning treatment you’ll want to know how long you can expect your tan to last and how to prolong your colour.
It’s a question on the lips of everyone stepping into a spray tanning booth, but finding out how long a spray tan will last is dependent on a couple of different factors.
In general, your spray tan will last around a week (5 to 10 days) but it will start to gradually fade before this time. This is because the skin will naturally continue to regenerate itself and old skin cells will be sloughed away to reveal paler skin beneath.
However, there are a few things you can avoid which can help your tan to stay true for longer.
However, there are a few things you can avoid which can help your tan to stay true for longer. Try to avoid going swimming if you want to prolong your spray tan as chlorine can cause your tan to fade. On the day of your spray tanning treatment take along loose-fitting dark clothes so you don’t lose colour through contact with tight fabrics.
Showering can remove colour, so be aware that your washing routine will affect the longevity of your spray tan. Soaking in the bath is particularly effective at fading the colour of your tan, so keep bubble baths to a minimum if you want your tan to stick around. Lots of moisturiser will definitely make a difference when it comes to retaining your golden glow, so don’t skimp on generous daily applications. This also has the added bonus of keeping your skin silky smooth!
