Exercise and your skin

When you’re debating re-joining the gym this year, it’s important to remember that exercise doesn’t need to be hard work, and it can be hugely beneficial not only for your overall health but can also dramatically affect the look of your skin!

Here’s just some of the ways exercise can boost your overall body health as well as your skin cells and your skin’s radiance…

Boosts oxygen

Physical activity encourages you to breathe deeper, boosting the oxygen you take in, which in turn will provide your skin with extra oxygen helping it to glow more radiantly.

Boosts nutrients and removes toxins

Physical activity increases circulation which in turn delivers more nutrients to your skin cells – also helping to get rid of toxins.

Boosts collagen production

This extra boost of nutrients also ensures your skin is in the best condition for making collagen, which helps to keep wrinkles and lines at bay.

Boosts endorphins

During physical activity and exercise, your body will release endorphins into the bloodstream which makes you look great on the outside and feel great on the inside!

Boosts sleep

Physical tiredness from regular exercise will encourage you to sleep more soundly at night, ensuring that when you wake, your skin will look and feel more refreshed.

How can I get more exercise to boost my skin’s radiance?

Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore, and remember, just being physically active still counts, whether this is walking the dog, doing the household chores such as vacuuming and gardening or even dancing on a night out with friends. These activities can be just as effective for your skin as doing a spinning class at your local gym.

No matter what physical activity you decide to do, the key is ensuring that you raise your heart rate and aim to do at least 30 minutes of physical activity around five times per week. Keep it interesting by making sure to mix things up – why not try making a rota for the week to help keep things on track and stop you from losing focus… your skin will thank you!
