Achieve a natural-looking golden finish around your fingernails and toes.

Oops… we’ve all been a bit slapdash with our fake tan before and stained our palms and nails with excess product. Avoid discolouring your nails next time by following our tips:

Use a tanning mitt or pair of gloves. We always advise our customers to use tanning mitts or gloves when applying fake tan to protect their palms and nails from absorbing the product. Mitts are great because the textured fabric helps to buff the tan into the skin, reducing the risk of streaks. However, some people prefer to use gloves because they can use their fingers to control and blend in the formulation. When you’re ready to tan the back of your hands you’ll need to take extra care to prevent staining around the nail bed and cuticle area. But if you follow either of our next two tips you won’t need to worry about being too careful.

Try Sienna X Perfect Self Tan Primer. A small dab of Perfect Self Tan Primer applied to each one of your fingernails and toenails will act as a barrier to fake tan. The tanning product won’t be absorbed and it will therefore be unable to stain the nails. This quick option is an easy solution when you’re time-poor or simply can’t be bothered to apply nail varnish in advance.

Apply nail varnish. Any kind of nail polish will protect your nails from fake tan stains. Even a clear nail varnish will work, so the colour you choose doesn’t have to be visible. However, you should still take care applying your tan to ensure the finish looks as natural as possible.
