The pros and cons of waxing your legs

We could wax lyrical about the benefits of waxing your legs for hours but we’ve whittled it down to our top ten (we’ve reluctantly mentioned some cons too but they’re so teeny tiny that they’re almost invisible):
- Smooth, hair free skin for up to four weeks
- Sparser regrowth with repeat treatments
- Fewer ingrown hairs
- No stubbly regrowth that feels itchy and uncomfortable
- Quicker morning routine because you’ve ditched your razor
- Exfoliated skin free from dead skin cells; the perfect pre-tan prep
- Instantly brighter looking skin
- Always ready for a dip in the pool, a swim at the beach or to show off those pins at a moment’s notice
- Perfect for sensitive skin types who find daily shaving aggravates their delicate skin
- Brilliant for eczema sufferers who can’t use products, like shaving foams and gels, that dry out their skin further
Are there any cons to waxing? We’ve racked our brains to come up with a few mini ones:
- Waxing can feel uncomfortable, especially around the intimate areas, such as the top of the bikini line, where it’s normal to have thicker, denser hairs. However, this is short-lived — the discomfort is over very quickly, any redness subsides rapidly and you’re left with silky smooth skin.
- The first treatment can feel embarrassing for newbies but once you get to know your therapist it becomes much easier and just like any other form of beauty treatment.
- Shaving in-between sessions isn’t recommended because it makes it trickier for the wax to grab shorter hairs at your next treatment. The upshot is that if you continue to wax regularly, you’ll slow down your hair’s natural growth rate and can keep longer gaps between sessions anyway.
