Tanning for men - how to tan the face

2 Min Read Wednesday 26th June 2013

Prepare your skin before a tanning treatment to prolong your colour.

Remove stubble and exfoliate your face to create the perfect base for the application of product.

We don’t need to tell you that a fake tan enhances muscle tone, revitalises tired-looking skin and adds a gentle, even glow to the entire body from head to toe. Sunless tanner is the ultimate super-quick product to use when you want to highlight your best bits, disguise blemishes and feel ultra confident. It’s the modern man’s secret weapon to looking fantastic in an instant.

But let’s get to the useful bit; how should you apply fake tan to the face when you have a five o’ clock shadow? The easy answer is to make sure that you shave at least 24 hours before your treatment and exfoliate with Polishing Body Scrub. This will remove any dead cells lying on the surface of your skin and create a smooth base for the fake tan to adhere to.

We recommend adding a small amount of moisturiser, such as Radiance Body Balm, to your sunless tanner before applying to the face. This will make it easier to smooth onto the skin and reduce the risk of streaks and a patchy finish. Begin with a small amount of product to ensure that you don’t overdo it on the first application. If you feel that you want a richer finish, once the guide colour has developed and been washed off, you can apply another layer of fake tan. You can even use fast tanners like Instant Bronzing Gel or Express Tanning Mist to add more colour to your face at a later date.

Wait 6 to 8 hours for the colour to develop and wash off the residual product in the shower. Pat your skin dry and moisturise your face and body to hydrate your skin and boost the longevity of your tan. Continue to do this as often as possible to extend the life of your Sienna X fake tan.
