How to touch up a fake tan
Clever products to make a tan last longer.
The best way to eke out your sun-kissed glow for a couple more days.
Bring your fake tan back to life by using a top-up tanner. These two handy products are great for extending the life of a tan that has lost it’s radiant sheen and started to fade.
1.Express Tanning Mist This nifty ‘tan in a can’ is easy to spray over any parts of the body where your colour has started to lighten and perfect for balancing up an uneven-looking tan. Bear it in mind that the colour on those areas of the body that are washed more frequently than others, such as the hands and face, will begin to fade the earliest. Simply spray the product over the skin and the guide colour will give you an instant glow right there on the spot. Your tan will continue to develop underneath, which will take between 2-4 hours. And, if you’d like to go a little darker once the final colour has been revealed you can always apply another layer of Tanning Mist straight on top to create a richer hue.
2. Instant Bronzing Gel Boasting a luxurious texture and sweet orange scent, this fast-acting tanner is ideal for enhancing your colour when time is very short. Rub the product onto any areas of the skin where the colour has started to fade and watch your sun-kissed tan appear in seconds. Unlike Express Tanning Mist, this short-term tan doesn’t take any time to develop – as soon as it’s dry it’s ready to roll. However, remember that it will wash off in the shower. The benefit of course is that you get total control over your day-to-day colour and can go from a porcelain beauty to a golden goddess whenever the mood strikes.
Top tip: Remember that it’s normal for a regular fake tan or spray tan to fade away after a week. If you want to promote an even fade-off try moisturising daily. This will help to prolong your colour and prevent your tan from lightening too early in key areas.
