Get great results with your self-tanning mitt
Learn how to use your fake tan mitt for a flawless, streak-free glow.
For a polished self-tan finish, a fake tanning mitt can be the perfect addition to your home tanning regime.
When it comes to getting a no-streak, natural looking glow, you’ll never know what you did without a sunless tanning mitt. Fake tanning mitts have become a staple for any keen beauty connoisseur looking to apply tanning lotions with a professional finish.
So how can you maximise your mitt for a glorious glow? Firstly, remember that your tanning mitt will absorb some of the tanning product so although it is important to use only a small amount with each application, being too stingy with your self-tan makes it easier for streaks to appear. Use enough to go on smoothly without creating friction against the skin, but not too much that you waste product unnecessarily.
Always prepare your skin with plenty of exfoliation and moisturiser in advance as you would before a spray tanning appointment. Removing unwanted hair 24 hours before if shaving and two days before if waxing will give smooth skin for your mitt to glide over and an ideal base for your sunless tanning lotion.
Start your application from the feet and work upwards methodically in gentle circular motions with your mitt. It can be tempting when applying tan to the limbs to sweep the lotion on in straight lines, but this technique isn’t as effective when it comes to the lotion absorbing.
Remember to rinse out your mitt with a gentle soap and some warm water after each use and you’ll get the best results every time.
