So you’ve just returned from the salon after a wax and you want to apply your fake tan. Should you do it?
NOT YET!
Our advice is to wait at least 24 hours before getting started. Read on for more guidance on waxing after a tan to guarantee that your golden glow looks flawless:
- First up, let us commend you for making the excellent decision to get a wax before fake tanning! Waxing is a fantastic exfoliating treatment that removes the dead skin cells on the top surface of the skin and perfectly preps it for a sunless glow. It leaves the skin feeling softer and smoother, which ensures that your fake tan glides on effortlessly and evenly, and it helps your colour to last longer.
- Don’t apply your fake tan on the day of your waxing treatment or you’ll end up with a dotty finish ‚Äî waxing opens up the pores on the surface of the skin and tanner can settle into these pores and cling to them, making them appear darker than other areas. Wait at least 24 hours before applying your tanner to allow your pores to close up and encourage an even distribution and coverage¬†of product.
- If you find that your skin feels dry after your wax apply a light layer of moisturiser. Re-apply a small amount of moisturiser a few hours before tanning, paying close attention to dry areas, like¬†the ankles and elbows. If these areas are very¬†dry they tend to soak more tanner up, causing a patchy end result, so it’s a useful trick to apply a touch of moisturiser beforehand to create a very thin barrier that prevents excess absorption.
- Continue to moisturise every day to prolong your colour and you should find that your caramel glow lasts for up to a week!
