Easy Tips for a January Detox

With the overindulgence that Christmas inevitably brings, it’s no surprise that most of are feeling a little sluggish now that the party season’s over. Luckily, there are a few quick fixes you can do to get yourself looking and feeling your best again.

Reinvigorate your skin

If you’re a bit partied out, then your skin is likely to be the first place that will show it. A build up of toxins in your body can lead to breakouts, puffiness or sallow-looking skin – none of which are going to help improve those January blues. To get your skin looking its best again, start by exfoliating to buff away dead, tired skin cells. Use a scrub in the shower (you won’t be surprised to learn we recommend our Polishing Body Scrub!) and then also incorporate dry brushing into your nightly routine. This helps to shed the top layer of skin, while also improving circulation. To avoid using too many chemicals, swap your usual moisturiser for a light, natural oil. This will help to combat the dehydration that alcohol and late nights will cause.

Add some colour

Once you’ve exfoliated and rehydrated your skin, it’s time to get it looking as good as it feels. Flush out toxins

It may sound boring, but the best way to rid your body of the toxins that have built up over Christmas is to drink water – and lots of it. Fresh lemon juice in half a cup of water is the best way to start your morning, and dandelion tea once or twice throughout the day will help to detoxify your liver.

Say goodbye to alcohol and caffeine (for a few days, anyway!) 

Sugar, dairy, alcohol and caffeine are all likely to be things you overindulged in during December, so cutting these out for a few days will help to cleanse your digestive system.  Switch to herbal teas, lean meats and plenty of fruit and veg and your energy levels will hit the roof in no time.
