Can I fake tan my face after my eyebrow wax?
Fake tanning your face immediately after an eyebrow wax is a no no.
Always wait at least a day before applying fake tan after any form of hair removal to prevent the risk of a streaky finish.
Waxing causes gentle trauma to the skin; each hair is pulled out forcefully from the root. This trauma can manifest itself as a touch of soreness and redness. Giving your skin the time it needs to recover is advised before you apply fake tan, or indeed any kind of cosmetic product, such as foundation, brow pencil and concealer that can clog up your pores.
If you ignore this advice your golden glow may look patchy, ‘dotty’ and uneven around your brow area, especially if you suffer with sensitive skin.
The good news is that waxing is a form of exfoliation that removes dead skin cells and leaves behind a smoother surface for fake tan to glide over. This smoother surface encourages an even application of product and prolongs the lifespan of your tan as well. So, as long as you wait a day before fake tanning, waxing is actually a brilliant pre-tan treatment.
Always remember to tread lightly when you apply fake tan to your face. It’s far easier to wait for the colour to develop and add a bit more product to achieve a richer glow than take it away. Mixing a touch of moisturiser into your fake tan can lighten the formula a bit if you’re worried about going too dark. A looser product is also easier to blend and buff into the skin.
