How to apply fake tan around the ankles
Tanning the ankles: your ultimate guide.
The best way to promote an even sunless tan around the ankle area.
It can be tricky to apply sunless tanner around the ankles. Here’s our guide to getting it right first time:
1. Exfoliate. Use a gentle exfoliator, such as Polishing Body Scrub, to remove dead skin cells at least a day before your treatment. Focus on drier areas like the ankles, elbows, knees and heels to slough off any existing rough skin. This will help to create a smooth base for the self tan to adhere to.
2. Moisturise. Apply a small amount of moisturiser around your ankle area prior to to your fake tan. If you fail to moisturise then your dry skin will absorb too much product and result in an uneven, patchy-looking tan. If you prefer, you can add some Radiance Body Balm to your fake tan just before you begin the application process to loosen the formula and make it slightly easier to rub it into tricky spots.
3. Make use of excess tan. Do not apply your tan straight onto the ankle area as this will create an irregular colour base that looks ‘fake’. To encourage a natural-looking finish simply work the excess product that you have already applied onto the legs to your ankles and feet. You can use a tanning mitt to blend the product gradually into the skin.
4. Blend. Work the product into the skin gently with an even pressure to promote smooth application and ensure a balanced finish is achieved. It is important to take your time doing this as it will produce the best results.
