Is a fake tan at home as good as a spray tan?

2 Min Read Wednesday 6th June 2012

Self tanning is not as complicated as you might think.

Spray tans are quick but fake tan can look just as good with a little practise.

Fake tanning at home is really simple if you use the right products and stick to a few basic rules. However, a professional spray tan in a salon will create flawless results and take less time – the choice you make will depend on how much time you have and what type of finish you’re hoping to achieve.

Sienna X sunless tanning lotions such as the award winning dark glowing self tan are designed to be easy to apply. They also contain moisturising ingredients that help to prevent premature ageing and cellulite. As long as you take your time with the application process you’ll find that the colour produced by our lotions and sprays will look even and immaculate. Try to rub the product onto the skin in circular motions using a tanning mitt – the fibrous texture of the mitt will create a smooth finish and covering your hands will ensure that your palms don’t become stained.

Salon spray tans are quicker though because you won’t be applying the colour to the skin yourself. A therapist will use a special spray tan gun to cover your whole body in a light mist of colour. All you’ll need to do is stand still inside a tanning booth while all the hard work is done by someone else. Plus it only takes about 10 minutes! Nevertheless, once you become an expert at fake tanning at home you’ll probably be able to complete the whole process in the same amount of time in the comfort of your own bathroom.

The secret to prolonging both fake tans and spray tans is to pat dry your skin after the colour has developed and follow up with a moisturiser like our radiance body balm. Lock in the gorgeous burnished hue by hydrating the whole body from top to toe each day by moisturising regularly.
