How long does an upper lip wax last?

2 Min Read Friday 20th July 2018

If you’re talking about the length of the treatment, a quick five mins (usually less!) is about the average amount of time it takes to get an upper lip wax.

It’s super quick because all the hairs are pulled out at one time, unlike other forms of hair removal like threading (where each hair is ‘twisted’ out by a thread) or shaving (where regrowth appears stubbly and coarse). Your therapist will first apply a cleansing gel or oil to prep the skin before the wax is applied to one side of the upper lip before it’s swiftly removed. This step is then repeated on the other side and a cooling cream is applied to the treatment area to instantly calm redness and alleviate soreness.

If you want to know how long it takes for the hair the reappear after an upper lip wax then we haven’t got a clear cut answer. This is because it all depends on your hair’s growth cycle (which is as unique as you are) as well as your ethnic background, age and gender. For example, it’s common for hairs on the face to grow thicker, coarser and faster during menopause or if you suffer from a health condition like polycystic ovary syndrome.¬† However, in most cases you can expect an upper lip wax to last for up to a month before you need to return for a repeat treatment.
