Why is my facial hair increasing with age?

2 Min Read Tuesday 19th November 2019

Found an inexplicable stray hair growing out of your neck? Have your chin hairs doubled overnight? And do these rogue hairs suddenly feel as wiry as the fibres of an outdoor broom?

You are not alone. This is a common experience for many women and is a normal part of the ageing process.

Facial hair increases with age and may even change texture (feeling thicker to the touch) because of hormone fluctuations that occur throughout the different stages of our lives, such as pregnancy and menopause.

Greater hair growth on your face is also hereditary and could be linked to your ethnicity too. For example, people from South Asia or the Mediterranean who have darker complexions often experience thicker, denser hair growth, which tends to increase on the facial area over time.

Tweezing out hairs from your chin, neck and cheeks is fine for the odd stray but if you find that your facial hair maintenance is getting on top of you then face waxing is the perfect treatment for you.

A face waxing session takes less than 15 minutes and the results last for up to a month so you can wave bye bye to your tweezers for good. In fact, waxing is far quicker than tweezing out each hair individually and it won’t leave any fine hairs or peach fuzz behind either.

While you’re at the salon why not get your brows shaped too? Many waxing salons offer packages that combine face treatments, such as an eyebrow tidy, chin wax and neck wax, at a special offer price, saving you money overall. Try it today so you can leave the salon feeling like your old self again.
