What to expect at the spray tanning salon

Venturing into the spray tanning booth for the first time can be daunting, but don’t worry – we’ll tell you what to expect!

Here’s our guide for spray tan beginners so you can get the best results from your airbrush tanning appointment.

Anyone who has stepped into a spray tanning booth for the first time will be wondering where to stand and what to do, but it really is a straightforward and relaxing treatment when you know what to anticipate.

A spray tan with Sienna X takes just ten minutes, so you can save plenty of time which you would otherwise spend on self-tan application and be perfectly tanned in no time!

When you book your appointment the therapist will recommend that you exfoliate using a body polish to scrub away dry patches and impurities and this will prolong your tan and offer the most flawless result. Shaving should also be carried out between 24 and 48 hours before your fake tanning session as this allows time for the pores to close and will prevent dotting .

Putting on lotions or deodorants before your spray tanning session may cause streaks to appear when the final colour develops, so make sure your skin is fresh and ready to receive the tanning formula by avoiding these products. Also avoid wearing makeup or perfume on the day of your tan.

Once you are in the booth and changed, your Sienna X tanning therapist will apply Sienna X Barrier Cream to your hands, knees, elbows and other dry areas to prevent over-tanning. Follow the therapist’s instructions regarding the position of your body so that they can apply the tanning formula accurately. You will be asked to hold your breath for a few moments while the tan is applied to the face and neck to avoid inhaling any product.

After your colour has been applied, your therapist will remove excess tan from your palms and hands to give a completely natural finish. And you’re all done!
