Application tips for a streak-free self tan

Knowing the best techniques to apply your fake tan will help you to get an incredible finish.

Proper application methods will allow you to apply self tan with precision blending to achieve the correct depth of colour.

There are a few simple guidelines when it comes to applying your self-tan that you should follow if you want to get a professional-looking tan. Streaks, patches and pale areas can all be avoided with careful application and a little know-how.

Using a self tan mitt, always start your tan at the feet and work your way upwards so you know where you’ve applied your tanning formula and you will avoid smearing it before it has been absorbed. For  precision application to feet mix a little moisturiser to your self tan lotion, allowing you to blend around toes and the sides of the foot without leaving tide marks.

Circular motions are recommended when applying your tanning formula to legs and arms. This gently blends the tan into the skin and gives a smooth overall effect when the colour finally develops. Your hands should be the last place to tan.

To help you to get an even golden colour, mix a little moisturiser with your tanning lotion  before applying to the backs of hands and fingers.
